Overview

The Manali to Zanskar cycling tour via Shinku La Pass is one of the most offbeat and high-altitude cycling adventures in the Indian Himalayas. Covering around 280 km, this newly opened route links Manali with the remote Zanskar Valley, crossing Shinku La at 5,091 m.

Once accessible only by trekking, this hidden corridor is now rideable—offering cyclists a quieter, less crowded alternative to the Manali–Leh highway. The route passes through raw mountain deserts, ancient villages, and deep Himalayan valleys, with iconic stops like Gonbo Rangjon and the cliff-hung Phugtal Monastery.

Ideal for riders seeking a trans-Himalayan cycling expedition, this journey delivers solitude, culture, and extreme landscapes—making it one of India’s most rewarding cycling routes.
